Why should you clean your cooling tower?  To save money!
In this economy, we all want to save money.

Cooling Towers should be cleaned periodically to removedeposits on intake louvers that can restrict airflow and toremove sediment and debris from the basin.  Sediment provides an excellent breeding ground for microbiological organisms and slime that foul heat exchange equipment and increase energy consumption. A thorough cleaning will include inspection of spray nozzles and fill material to identify damaged components that reduce efficiency.  As well, the tower structure and walls should be inspected for any visible signs of corrosion or leaks causing wasted water.

The preferred method for cleaning is to shut down the cooling tower and pressure wash with environmentally safe and effectiveRYDLYME.  If the cooling tower cannot be shut down, you can still clean while it is on-line with a vacuum or siphon arrangement.  This will allow you to remove the bulk of mud and debris that accumulates in low flow areas.

Cleaning water cooled systems with RYDLYME is not only safe but can result in significant operating savings as this success story relates:

A retirement home in Virginia was experiencing heavy scale deposits in their 500 ton cooling tower, significantly increasing the energy costs to operate the unit. In fact, it was costing the company over $23,000 per year in addition to the normal costs of operating a clean, efficient unit. Due to the heavy scale, 400 gallons of RYDLYME was recommended to clean the tower. The product was circulated for 12 hours, water flushed, and returned to service. The $7000 investment of  RYDLYME material and labor realized a payback period of 3.5 months, and significantly improved the cooling efficiency of the system.

Water scale deposits are a significant cause of heat transfer loss, along with the subsequent increase in energy costs. In fact, even a thin layer of scale (1/32″) can cause a 30% increase in the cost to operate that piece of equipment. Keeping the cooling passages free of mineral deposits significantly improves efficiency,

conserves energy, extends the useful life of the equipment, and saves your plant time & money.
RYDLYME is specifically designed to dissolve the toughest water scale, lime, mud, and rust deposits from virtually any piece of water based equipment. This powerful, yet totally safe, liquid is non-toxic, non-flammable, non-hazardous, non-corrosive and biodegradable; so RYDLYME will not harm your personnel, equipment or our environment!
